The day is approaching when seven directors and 35 actors from 17 countries will gather in Berlin for the international laboratory Focal Point, a project of Berlin’s newly established Urban Theater. I find theater deeply fascinating, as what happens on stage is a miniature universe in itself. At the same time, what happens behind the stage is, for me, almost more captivating. This is an opportunity to observe firsthand to what extent core business principles and best practices apply. The creative economy adds additional constraints and complexities, turning it into a stress test of sorts....

As we are coming to a complete still-stand around the year-end, I thought it would be a high time for another book recommendation. I also thought it could be a good idea to spark the ever-shortening days with an entertaining read, which also has a couple of layers – like a good cake. By the virtue of a funny coincidence, there is a great book I have recommended to a couple of awesome people lately, who are dear to my heart and who I secretly envy as they will be savoring this lush and delicious fruit for the first time. The book in question is “Murder Mindfully,” which has recently been adapted for a TV series. This makes me advocate for reading it even stronger – preferably before you watch the series and enjoy an incredible soundtrack....

I find December a fascinating month! First off, it always lets me feel the relativity of time on my own skin (and sometimes makes it crawl). Every year I have a strong feeling and an ever-growing suspicion that time flows differently in December: it becomes noticeably more fluid, to the point of trickling between my fingers and then changing its aggregate state and evaporating all together. While this might feel frustrating at times, I also think this is a fantastic opportunity to stress-test my own routines and processes.
