Theater Performance with Live-Music “The Red Folder” by Urban Theater

An international theater troupe produces a theater performance with live music out of thin air. Without a budget and without a permanent rehearsal room – but with a lot of talent and dedication.

What it is about: This is a theater production of the Urban Theater. The play tells you the story of an international family of three: a Ukrainian father, a Russian mother, and their little daughter. With the break of the war against Ukraine, they were forced to leave Russia but could not go to Ukraine. Their odyssey through 12 countries of Europe took them almost a year and was full of incredible encounters, coincidences, and almost magical strokes of luck. Upon arriving in Berlin and realizing that almost all their former colleagues from the St. Petersburg Urban Theater are also there, it was clear that a theater play had to be created and staged to describe these events – and so it was.

What kind of support Verarius provided: location rent for rehearsals.

What else the project needs: opportunities to show the play at permanent theaters and at festivals, all sorts of connections in the sphere of culture, locations for rehearsals, engagement and gigs for the members of the troupe as well as word of mouth. Financial support, sponsoring, etc. would also be appreciated.

Today’s entry is inspired by two incredible human beings who don’t know each other (yet), but this is hopefully about to change: Regina Kuzmina and Sonja Werner. As business activities come to a halt, this provides a breather for a book by the fireplace (or for your own manuscript, if you are writing a thesis). So here I would like to continue the tradition we started last year on this blog. Withough further ado - please enjoy this holiday season book recommendation of What I Learned Losing a Million Dollars....

Welcome to the next entry of our section From Science to Practice. Today we stay in the neighbourhood of our last kin density entry – but add a twist. If last time we investigated who matters in the family circle, the today’s study asks: what happens when employees decide that playing favourites is simply the way things are? So, please be my trusted buddy when diving into: Legitimacy, Particularism and Employee Commitment and Justice by Sarah Hudson, Helena V. González-Gómez, and Cyrlene Claasen (2019)...

“Nepotism might also be an "issue" only in WEIRD cultures …” In a recent WhatsApp exchange, Ulf – the person who nudged me toward VU Amsterdam four years ago and thus set me on this PhD path – made a thought-provoking statement: “Nepotism might also be an “issue” only in WEIRD cultures …” I started typing an answer but......
